CSIRO Future Research Vessel

In May 2009, the Australia Government allocated $120 million for a new ocean - going research vessel to replace the present CSIRO Marine national Facility Research Vessel Southern Surveyor. Teekay Holdings Australia Pty Ltd was awarded the contract in January 2011 to design,  build and commission the new vessel.

Tasmanian Irrigation Schemes

Petuna Aquaculture Capacity Expansion

Petuna is currently undertaking a capacity expansion project, that will increase capacity, capability and efficiency at all Petuna operations.
Petuna is proud to actively encourage Australian industry participation in our own industry, where specialist equipment supply is dominated by manufacturers in the Northern hemisphere. We are therefore seeking expressions of interest for participation in the following areas of our expansion;
  • recirculating aquaculture systems
  • marine farm feed systems
  • factory chillers and freezers.

Redevelopment Royal Hobart Hospital Project

 Registrations are being taken by the ICN to assist the Redevelopment of the Royal Hobart Hosptial team in mximising local content for the project.  It is valued in excess of $500 million and is the south's biggest committed construction and engineering project.

Tasmanian Irrigation

Tasmanian Irrigation has established a register of plant and equipment suitable for building infrastructure including dams. Those who are leaving or have left the forestry industry in particular are encouraged to register here giving details pertaining to the plant, equipment and operators they have available that may be of value for dam building.  Tasmanian Irrigation tenders the construction of infrastructure to independent contractors but will make the register available to those tendering and to the successful contractors. The aim of Industry Capability Network (ICN) in Tasmania is to promote Tasmanian, Australian and New Zealand industry through import replacement and opportunities for participation in major projects, government procurement and commercial developments.

National Broadband Network

NBN Tasmania is the first stage of the Commonwealth Government's ambitious multi-billion dollar national broadband network.

Tasmania was selected to lead this national initiative because of the extensive work already undertaken in developing and testing the concept of fibre-to-the-premises.

A panel of contractors has established to build the initial $38 million rollout of the NBN. This portal is to identify additional local companies that can assist with the Tasmanian build phase.

At this stage only companies that can provide specific capabilities should register for the project. Please do not register here if your company is a seller or reseller of consumables or equipment. Another portal may be established for Australian/NZ made equipment for the project in the future.

We are currently looking for local companies that can provide services in the following categories.

  • Cable Installation (all aspects, above ground, below ground etc)
  • Horizontal Directional Drilling
  • Electrical Installation (Overhead and Underground)
  • Qualified Underground Asset Locators
  • Civil Contractors (Ground Works)

Tasmanian Irrigation Projects
 
The work of the Tasmanian Irrigation evolved from the Tasmanian Water Development Plan being pursued by the State Government.  Amongst other matters, the initial phases of the Water Development Plan focused on developing a number of irrigation proposals to the "investment ready" stage. A recognition that regional significant irrigation regional development is, in most cases, beyond the resources of the farmers alone, resulted in the establishment of the Tasmanian Irrigation through private public partnerships. The capital cost of these schemes is shared between the community and the private sector. A total of $220 million has been earmarked by the Tasmanian and the Australian Governments to progress the water developments. Private capital contributions are made through the purchase of tradeable water entitlements to the particular schemes by the beneficiaries of that scheme. Operating costs are met by an annual charge on water entitlement holders.

CSIRO Marine National Facility Research Vessel

Hydro Tasmania

Hydro Tasmania is seeking Proposals for distribution system support services on the Bass Strait Islands (King and Flinders Islands).

 

Hydro Tasmania is looking to define the BSI distribution system asset management and maintenance services.  It is proposed that a suitably qualified and experienced company be selected to partner with Hydro Tasmania to advise on and recommend the appropriate support and equipment for these services and to assist with developing the best commercial model for the delivery of the activities required (Development Phase).

 

Hydro Tasmania intends to select the Development Phase partner by considering proposals from companies that are capable and interested in providing the longer term distribution system support services for the BSI (DSS Services). It is proposed that the DSS Services be provided over an initial two year contract period with options to extend and include the provision of distribution system support services and transmission maintenance activities, as well as the supply of equipment and general construction services relating to Hydro Tasmania infrastructure.
